Job Description

Part time Level 3 Nursery Nurse
Hedon Nursery School

Role Purpose

To contribute to high-quality early years education by acting as a Key Teacher within Hedon Nursery School. The role supports the delivery of our unique, child-centred curriculum and the continued development of an inspiring, nurturing environment where every child is supported to explore, learn and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Key Teacher Duties

• Act as a Key Teacher for an allocated group of children, building positive relationships with them and their families.
• Observe, assess and plan next steps for learning aligned with the EYFS and the school’s curriculum approach.
• Lead high-quality interactions to support the development of communication, social skills, creativity and early learning.
• Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and share this effectively with families and colleagues.

Teaching & Learning

• Deliver learning experiences that reflect the school’s unique curriculum and embrace child-led, curiosity-driven learning.
• Support the creation and maintenance of inspiring indoor and outdoor learning environments.
• Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing through consistent, nurturing interactions.

Teamwork & Collaboration

• Work closely with colleagues to plan, review and enhance provision.
• Contribute to staff meetings, reflective discussions and shared problem-solving.
• Participate in the four-school collaboration through shared CPD, moderation and curriculum development opportunities.

Professional Development

• Engage in training, coaching and wider CPD offered within the school and collaboration.
• Reflect on practice, seek opportunities to grow and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of early years pedagogy and best practice.

Operational Responsibilities

• Support daily routines, including setting up and maintaining high-quality provision.
• Undertake health and safety checks, risk assessments and required documentation.
• Contribute to safeguarding practice by following all policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
